Have you got some emails in your inbox with the title “Missed voice message” and the sender name “WhatsApp Messenger”? If yes, then do not open this email and immediately trash it. Within the last few days a fake email which presents itself as an important email from WhatsApp team has been spreading out in the internet. This email is a hoax. WhatsApp never emails its users; the company usually notifies users directly by sending messages via the app itself.
So if you have any email with sender name as WhatsApp
messenger then that email is a threat. Avast is warning its users not to open
the fake email. According to them the email asks recipient to download the
attached file with the name “Missed-messages.zip”. According to Avast this zip file
contains an executable file with the same name missed-message.exe. On running
this exe file, it can download and install harmful malware, including Zeus
Trojan, in recipient computer.
The Zeus Trojan is a pretty harmful virus, it usually
remains silent in the background, until the user don’t log on to a banking
website. Once a banking site is opened, Zeus collects user’s potential data and
other online banking information.
So what you can do to protect yourself and your data against
the attack and possible malware installations is, simply deleting the mail from
your inbox and installing a powerful antivirus and internet protection
software, like those provided by Avast.
The Avast Antivirus can detect executable files spread in
Zip files and protects users from Zeus and other possible threats and attacks.
However, if you face any difficulties in downloading or
using any feature of Avast security solutions, then the best thing to do is
contacting experts. There are well versed experts working with Techcillin Avast Tech Support Team.
