ESET Reports Spotify Breached; Only One Mystery User Hacked



The popular online music streaming service Spotify has recently been breached, but it was only one mystery user whose account got hacked (according to The Verge). Still the company is urging its users who access Spotify from Android to upgrade to new version of the app. The users on iOS and Windows Phone are unaffected.
The company in its official blog said, “Our evidence shows that only one Spotify user’s data has been accessed and this did not include any password, financial or payment information. We have contacted this one individual. Based on our findings, we are not aware of any increased risk to users as a result of this incident.”
According to TechCrunch, “Spotify aims to put a series of security measures in place “over the next few days”. Android users will be prompted to re-enter their username and password to log in.”
Although this reported Spotify breach is among the smallest data breaches ever, when compared with the recent eBay breach, which affected millions of users around the world; requiring them to change their login credentials.
